So you think it’s too expensive?
Today I was offered a commission for four children’s outfits in the scottish style. It should be very close to authentic and includea kilt, frilly shirt a jacket and a head covering. I was very flattered and here is why:In the real world the whole package for an adult would cost about $1,500.00 and up, somewhat less for a child but not that much.However, you could rent an outfit for your child for $95.00 plus tax including all the accessories to make it look authentic.I explained all of this and to repeat, I am so flattered because the expectation is that I can make four individually fittedoutfits authentic looking mind you, for less than the $95.00 rental price and have it ready in four week’s time. Oh yes, of course I would have to show a sample or at least pictures of what it would be before the order would be confirmed. I am good, and sometimes I am amazing, but I am not so good that I can beat the experts at their game and for less money too. I have tried it in the past and sometimes it was amazing but mostly I lost sleep, money and my sanity.

Purim is coming!
So now its getting close to Purim and calls are coming: “Where are you???” We are not on Eglinton any more. In fact, we do no longer have a storefront where you can browse. We had plans to just rent a place for Purim but it just isn ‘t cost effective.
We have, however been able to help some of our die-hard customers who did not mind coming to our house by apppointment during the past ten months. I am still making costumes for those who appreciate handmade one-of a kind items.

Sorry we’re not on Eglinton anymore….

If you live “just around the corner” from our old location on Eglinton Avenue you will know that we have been gone from there since the end of April 2008. We boxed and catalogued everything and it is now mostly in our basement but realistically all over the house. Some people have found their way here and told us that they found the experience quite enjoyable and they will be back. We haven’t decided what the future of Costume Witch will be but for now we are concentrating on expanding our rental department and filling those custom orders which keep on coming. If you are having trouble finding that particular costume or you just miss us, give us a call to make sure we are here. The good thing is that parking is free and plentiful.
